What is SCRIP and why should I participate?

When you purchase SCRIP, you’re purchasing gift cards that are used just like cash. It costs you nothing but the purchase you were already going to make.  Instead of using cash, check or credit card to make your purchase, use SCRIP gift cards instead. 

SCRIP gift cards are offered by many national and local retailers where you already shop.  These retailers sell the gift cards at a discounted rate; that is how you and the school make a profit! Participating retailers include gas stations, movie theaters, grocery stores, restaurants, clothing stores and so on.

You can directly reduce your tuition costs AND make money for the school by purchasing SCRIP.  Here's how: SCRIP offers a percentage discount on its gift cards which varies by retailer (2% - 15% or more).  That discount is then split between RMS and you!  For example, by purchasing a $50 gas station gift card that has a 6% discount, RMS earns $1.50 and you receive $1.50 tuition credit.  While that might not seem like a lot of money, if you purchase SCRIP cards each week for your weekly, holiday, travel and special event needs, it can really add up!  Credits are applied toward your tuition twice per year.

If you ever buy groceries, gasoline, clothing or coffee...if you go to the movies, eat out or play sports...if you travel for work or vacation and use hotels, rental cars and airlines, this is the way to go!  Check out the hundreds of participating retailers by visiting www.shopwithscrip.com.  There is literally something for everyone. 

Here’s how it works: 

1. First you must register at www.shopwithscrip.com and use a special enrollment code for Racine Montessori School.  Once you have joined, you may begin making online orders any time.
2. By 9:00 a.m. each Monday morning, order your SCRIP.  You may pay via check (payable to RMS) or online for a $0.39 fee.  Submit payment (if applicable), and a copy of your order confirmation page, signed if you choose backpack delivery, to the office by 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
3. On Friday, your SCRIP is ready for you.  We can either have it put in your child's backpack or hold it in the office for you to pick up.
